While NYC's The Slackers have been influenced and even personally taught by Jamaican ska/reggae originators like the Skatalites and the Upsetters, the band sees its music through an American lens. This group is equally appreciative of old blues, '60s soul, rock and R&B as it is of reggae, rocksteady, dub and ska. The Slackers are now set to release their 7th studio full length, "Self Medication," 12 songs that find the band continuing to transcend the confines of genre.
