Ben Cook is beginning to come into his own as a singer-songwriter as Young Guv, having previously been better known for his work fronting No Warning or playing third guitar for Fucked Up. Young Guv has been his project for a while and, along with his other project Marvelous Darlings, showcases Cook's love of power pop. On "Ripe 4 Luv," he delivers eight tracks of upbeat, melodic, uptempo power-pop jams, continuing to take cues from classics like The Nerves and The Buzzcocks but making it as authentic as possible.
